A statement from the Upper Ross Congregation concerning the values they hold:

Living in the Upper Ross area has its joys and challenges. There is so much natural beauty along the river side, enjoying the clear skyline with a view of Mount Stuart or just enjoying the benefits of not being right in the middle of the busyness of shopping malls and commerce. Just as the Upper Ross is continuing to grow with a diversity of residents, so we as a church community are looking to grow. While growth in representing the range of people who live in our area is important to us, we are also looking to grow in maturity to face the challenges of modern living.

For our well being we are keen to learn how to better engage with each other, how to actually live as a warm, supportive community and to do this by strenghtening our faith in God's power to change us and keep us on track. Our faith community is based on words AND actions and is expressed in our kindness and generousity to others.

Anglican Worship with a difference!

Cafe_Church_Gathering

This is being led by two of our Lay Ministers and is held on the first Sunday of each month at 6 PM.  We would like any parishioner to feel free to attend this service and even better invite a friend. This kind of gathering will not suit everyone, but our prayer is that those on the periphery of the Church will be drawn into the centre and become active followers of Jesus Christ.

We also need your help i.e. intercessors, welcomers, readers, data projector operators, supper roster, roster for setting up the church etc. Please contact the Rector or the church office if you can help.

This service is designed to be a holy and prayerful community,

meeting in a relaxed and contemporary environment.

Whilst it will aim to foster an ongoing relationship with God, built upon a firm and steadily growing foundation, the atmosphere is designed to create a relaxed and informal approach to worshipping God, where questions, robust discussion and a stimulating environment for learning is encouraged. This is not to be confused with creating a casual and consumer attitude and approach to our daily relationship with God. In order to do this the liturgy will be prayerfully, intelligently and thoughtfully constructed so that the service is not found to be distracting, but is rather a holy and prayerful time set aside to be with the Lord. The whole point of a  relaxed liturgy is to encourage people to approach God and prayer in a way which may have previously been forced, difficult or stiff. We should also keep in mind that the aim is not to have a trendy service, as the word implies a passing and superficial fad with no firm foundation. We want to encourage an environment for stimulating discussion and questioning in order to promote further growth for both individual and congregation no matter what their stage of faith journey. This step will create a community of faith where everyone is able to experience growth and support, whilst bringing the different gifts God has set aside for us to use and bless each other with.

Godly, holy, caring, loving, prayerful, growing, community, learning, questioning,

faithful, engaging, relaxed, contemporary, modern day society, biblical.
